Product title checker

Length, promotional wording and capitals, judged the way the free feed check judges every title in a feed, with the repair it would propose.

The rules behind the colours

Google’s title specification allows 1 to 150 characters and truncates longer titles with a warning (“Title truncated”); it says not to include promotional text such as price, sale price, sale dates, shipping or delivery dates (promotional text), and not to use capital letters for emphasis (“Excessive capitalization”). Meta’s specification allows 200 characters and recommends under 65 to avoid truncation.

Questions merchants ask

Why 70 characters when the limit is 150?

150 is what Google accepts; beyond it the title is truncated with a warning. Roughly the first 70 are what most Shopping placements display, so the words shoppers search for belong there and the rest is for matching.

Which phrases count as promotional?

The ones the free check looks for: sale, percentages off, free shipping and free delivery, best price, buy now, hot deal, double exclamation marks, and their Romanian equivalents. Google’s title page excludes price, sale, shipping and time-related wording; “new” and “plus” are left alone because they are in too many product names.

Does the repair change brand acronyms?

Words with digits and one- or two-letter words are kept as typed; three-letter acronyms inside an all-caps title cannot be told from words, so they are lowercased after the first letter. Check them before using the repaired title.
